Competent
development
partner

Schwerter Profile GmbH manufactures special steel profiles. In close cooperation with individual companies or entire branches, it develops products that always serve to solve a specific production or construction problem. At its site in Schwerte, the company provides all that is required in order to provide branches and companies all that they require from a competent development partner:

  • leading quality standards
  • a high level of engineering know-how
  • innovative capability
  • modern production facilities.

The process of hot rolling makes it possible, that small quantities of special profiles can also be manufactured here economically.

Sustainability

Conserving resources
and ecological
responsibility

The company philosophy of Schwerter Profile GmbH includes not only a high product quality and optimal economic efficiency, a comprehensive environmental protection and health and safety are just as important. This means that environmental protection is not a stand-alone aspect next to other targets, it is an integral part of a corporate strategy that is oriented towards a long-term increase in value. All of the production processes are regularly analysed regarding their environmental impact, before they are adapted accordingly in a permanent improvement process. This is what environmental protection means to Schwerter Profile GmbH:

  • developing products that are characterised by durability
  • using materials that can be recycled to a high degree
  • permanent improvement of the production processes with regard to an environmental sustainability
  • conserving resources
  • permanent monitoring and evaluation of the environmental impacts that are caused by current and future activities
  • derivation of required and meaningful measures in order to permanently avoid environmental pollution

The existing environmental protection system has been adapted to the international standard DIN EN 14001:2015 and is valid for all of the company business units.

Quality

Permanent
quality assurance

The basis for the assuring of our quality and environment is a management system that has been certified by an independent accredited institute (DQS) pursuant to ISO 9001 and on the approval of the plant as a manufacturer according to the provisions of the AD leaflet WO/TRD 100 – German Technical Inspection Agency (TÜV) test No. 4/24 134 325/9 in addition to conformity with the general building regulations.

A Manufacturer´s Declaration of Conformity after prior testing of the building product by a recognised testing body (ÜHP) and a Confirmation of Conformity certificate that has been issued by a recognised certification body (ÜZ) have been issued for steel products in accordance with Building Rules List A, Part 1. Our terms of delivery are based on national standards and sets of rules – including DIN EN standards, Technical Rules for Pressure Vessels (TRD), steel, iron and materials sheets (SEW), AD leaflets (Pressure Vessels Working Committee), Association of Technical Inspection Agencies (Vd-TÜV) material sheets, ASTM (USA), BS (England), AFNOR (France), SIS (Sweden) and the international EN ISO standards.

Success Story

Success-
Story:
SE-|M|®

The demands being placed in industrial trucks are increasing continually: they should be faster, higher and permanently efficient even when operated under heavy loads. To put it in a nutshell: lift mast profiles are subjected to extreme loads when in operational use. The profile manufacturers were unable to keep up with the rapid development of the materials handling industry for a long time. The lift mast profiles that had remained almost unchanged for decades forced the manufacturers of industrial trucks to compensate for higher mast extension heights and load pressures by adopting a bundle of elaborate measures.

This is why Schwerter Profile GmbH has been working on a process that would enable lift mast profiles to be manufactured with a greater wear resistance in addition to them being designed for greater heights since 2003. The result of this years of work: The combination of the classic hot rolling process with a suitable material and an efficient processing makes it possible to meet the high demands. The “specially engineered milled process“, or SE-|M|® was patented in 2008.

SE-|M|® offers numerous benefits that take
our customers higher and further:

  • the lowest possible tolerances (0.2 mm) in the main functional surface of the profile
  • improved wear resistance through the material selection and removal of the surface decarburisation
  • reduced costs when compared with cold-drawn profiles due to a high degree of automation

A surface that
is hard as steel

The surface decarburisation effect basically occurs during all hot production processes. The carbon that has a decisive effect on the steel hardness hereby produces a chemical reaction with the oxygen in the atmosphere and converts the carbon that is close to the edge to carbon dioxide (CO2) in connection with the ambient oxygen. The consequence of this is that the target hardness values of the profile surface are considerably fallen short of in some cases. When used in industrial trucks, this means that the softer surface layer of the profile is worn by each roller run.

There is hardly any wear discernible in the profiles that are manufactured by Schwerter Profile GmbH using special materials in the SE-|M|® process. Our customers stated that their lifting frames have been running without any wear since using SE-|M|® profiles. The installation of the special Hoesch SE-|M|® profiles prolong the equipment maintenance intervals.
